Dr. Rüştü Serter was born in 1962 in Konya. He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1986. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Ankara Training and Research Hospital in 1991. Following specialization in Endocrinology and Metabolism he became associate professor in 1996. He worked as deputy chief of Department of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases at Ankara Training and Research Hospital; chief of Clinic of Internal Medicine at Ankara Oncology Education and Research Hospital; and as chief of the Department of Internal Medicine at Ankara Training and Research Hospital, respectively. He is working at Fulya Acibadem Hospital in Istanbul since 2010; and is a faculty member of, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Acibadem University School of Medicine.

Dr. Serter is married and has two children, speaks English and German fluently. He is member of International Diabetes Federation (IDF), the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE); European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD); The Mediterranean Group for the Study of Diabetes (MGSD); Turkish Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism; Obesity, Nutrition and Diabetes Association; National Nutrition Platform Association; Turkish Diabetes Foundation Board of Trustees; and  Turkish Obesity Foundation Board of Trustees. He has many national and international articles and book chapters published, as well as two books on obesity and metabolic syndrome.
